ID points: cleaning and faults
- The most common fault needs only a wipe with a damp cloth.
- Points do not work under water. They work when damp as long as they are clean. On a very dusty site, points get dirty and then stop working when it rains.
- A point that makes the baton flash twice, or not at all, is faulty.
- Points cannot be repaired. They fail when physically damaged or after an electric shock.
