Magtouch Electronics is a hardware and firmware development house. We design, build and manufacture rugged electronic products. Every product in our library was engineered in house.

What we do
Electronic hardware design
Schematic design and multi-layer PCB layout. Low-power and battery systems with multi-year life. Wireless and cellular connectivity: LTE-M and GSM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and sub-GHz. Sensor and interface electronics. Design for harsh environments: shock, vibration, dust, water and temperature.
Firmware and embedded software
Bare-metal and RTOS firmware for low-power microcontrollers, wireless communication stacks, secure bootloaders and over-the-air updates, on-device data storage, and device-to-cloud protocols that keep working over an unreliable link.
Cloud and mobile
Device back ends, reporting dashboards and automated report delivery, phone applications, and messaging integrations such as Telegram, SMS and email. This is the same stack that runs Tagtough Online.
Mechanical and enclosure design
Rugged housings sealed to IP68 and IP69K, hermetic sealing and potting, stainless steel and engineered plastic enclosures, and tooling for volume production.
Compliance and certification
We have taken products through intrinsic safety certification for hazardous areas (Zone 0) and ingress protection testing, along with our own environmental and abuse testing. See certifications.
Manufacturing and support
Local PCB assembly, product assembly, firmware programming, serialisation and quality control. Long-term support: component obsolescence management, design revisions, spares and in-house repair.

Our own product range is the portfolio. Each one solved a hard engineering problem and has been in daily use in the field for years.

Other work
Alongside our own range we take on development for other companies. Recent projects include:
- a controller for an automated gas cylinder vending machine;
- Bluetooth lock controllers and a phone app to open them;
- a tracker for firearms;
- a battery-powered activity monitor;
- a fingerprint reader.
Two of our own side projects are open for anyone to buy or build on: the Kijani robot controller and the LockBridge 8 locker controller.
Designs on offer
Some of our designs were finished and tested but never put into mass production. Each is on offer to anyone who wants it made, as it is or as the starting point for something else:
- TT Wifi: a patrol baton that reports over Wi-Fi.
- Baby Blu: a baton uploader that connects over the cellular network.
- Staff Management Unit: a guard-post unit and baton uploader in one, with a screen.
- SMS unit: a unit that sends an online account's notifications by SMS.
Where the technology is used
The same core, a rugged handheld, a fixed or connected reader and a reporting back end, is in use well beyond security guarding: mining and construction fatigue management, farm staff and picker management, cleaning and facilities rounds, hospitality equipment and hygiene checks, logistics and asset checks, and nurse round verification.
