Remote Uploader (RUE)
Current
Also known as: RUE, WiFi Remote Uploader
Wi-Fi upload station for stainless steel batons. Reads the baton after a patrol and puts the clockings online.
How it works
The Remote Uploader is mounted at the guardhouse or office and joined to the site's Wi-Fi. After each patrol the guard places the baton on the unit. The clockings are read out and sent to Tagtough Online, where they can be viewed from any web browser with no software to install.
A coloured light and a tune tell the guard how each upload went. It has a support so the baton can be left in place while it uploads. See setup, lights, tunes and fault finding.
It adds online reporting, automated reports and email or Telegram alerts to an existing Tagtough system: the same batons and ID points are used.
Prompting the guard
A unit that stays on site does more than upload. It sounds an alert from Tagtough Online to tell the guard when to start patrolling, and after the patrol it tells the guard whether it was a good one. This works only when the unit is kept on site and on the Wi-Fi, because the prompts come from the server.
In a supervisor's vehicle
The Remote Uploader can also travel. Fitted in a supervisor's vehicle, it reads the batons at each site on the supervisor's route and keeps the clockings in its own memory, which holds several thousand. It runs from USB, so it can be powered from the vehicle. When the vehicle is back at the office, the unit joins the office Wi-Fi and sends everything to the server. The sites themselves need no Wi-Fi and no computer.
What it does
- Reads a stainless steel baton and sends its clockings to Tagtough Online over the site's Wi-Fi.
- Saves the clockings in its own memory before it clears the baton, and sends them when the connection returns if the Wi-Fi is down.
- Tells the guard how the upload went with a coloured light and a tune.
- Kept on site, tells the guard when to start patrolling and whether the patrol was a good one.
- Travels in a supervisor's vehicle to read batons at several sites, and sends the clockings when it is back on the office Wi-Fi.
